So, yes, Kiwi is an entire Gmail client for the Mac, down to the last detail. It’s basically just like opening a dedicated Chrome window just for Gmail.
I guess that’s good. But if that’s what I wanted, why wouldn’t I just keep a dedicated Chrome window open?
What I was hoping for, and what Kiwi doesn’t deliver, is a better user interace. I love Gmail, but the layout is terrible. No ability to show a preview pane for messages? Why not? This is a stand-alone client so it should absolutely be a feature. Same page-by-page view of your inbox? Why? How about an endlessly scrolling list just like other email clients?
IMHO, the goal should not have been to reproduce the Gmail web experience, but instead, create a much better experience that also supports 100% of Gmail’s features. Dunno, maybe I’m missing something?
