Kiwi for Gmail Lite App Reviews

I use Gmail more than ever with Kiwi!

Use gmail more than ever and I can see whats accumulating in all the mailboxes. Great!!!!!

Browser Not Supported

That’s the message I keep getting. I have the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. I can’t even get past that screen.

Good App - No Annoyances for Lite Version

This does what it claims. Gets Gmail without the issues I was having getting my GMail via the Apple Mail.app. Good on resources. I like the app and have no complaints. 5 Stars for a more customizable desktop feel but who would to that at this price?

freezes with attachments

I’ve generally been pleased with this app. I like being able to have a separate window for my work email. However, recently it has been freezing when I try to attach something. Wonder if I need to upgrade from the lite version? Also, in my ideal world, this would be available as an app across devices, not just on a macbook. But, I’m thankful to have what it is for free.

Wait, no El Capitan?

Mavericks is the latest update? It’s 2016, by God!

Hijacked mail links from Mail.app

I thought I would like Kiwi Lite and eventually buy the full version, but upon install Kiwi Lite made itself the default mail client without asking. I fixed that in Mail.app preferences, but then it did it again when I updated it! What other unpleasant surprises are lurking? I’d rather not find out.

Now totally useless

Ws asked to install an update. Now, all I get is a white screen. Tried uninstalling, re-installing, shutting down computer, re-starting, over and over agan. Nothing works, still just a white screen when I try to open it. I am using El Capitan. Deleting this and going back to the browser. Very disappointed becaue I really liked this app.

Update doesn’t work

Installed the update - now all I get is a white screen. The update won’t display any mail. I’ve restarted the app numerous times, rebooted the computer. Nada. Be wary of upgrading from the previous version. As an update - it appears that removing the account and recreating it does fix this issue. Still not a great app experience. Increasing my rating of the app. I hope the developer does more thorough testing in the future. The application has been pretty solid up until this update. It brings the Gmail experience out of a browser tab into a standalone app and the memory usage is great.

I prefer the app to Google

I have had some issues with the app not closing which caused me to uninstall and start over, but I think it may have been resolved. I prefer to have this as a separate app rather than having to open Google in a browser page but it does essentially what the Google site would do. For its convenience I give it 4 stars.

Crashes more not less

Simple, straight-forward. Version 1.9.1 was touted as more stable, bug-free, etc. Turns out the previous ones never crashed on me but this one did one day after the update...

Wow … not

So, I thought I would give this app a shot. I download the application, install and go to add an account. Open Kiwi > Preferences and the “+” sign to add an account is not available - no accounts showing but the “-“ is available… Hard to try out an application when you cant even configure the client to use a mail account… application uninstall - dont waste your time

fantastic

the older versions were a little buggy, but this new version has been great. exactly what I’ve always wanted- native gmail in a standalone app. 4 stars until they add plugin support.

Basicalluy the Web App in it’s own window

The differences when managing multiple accounts are nice, but the primary weekness of gmail, the inability to sort by “To” or “From” remains solidly in place. To me that feature would be the only reason to switch from the web to a client.

Better than other gmail apps!

This software beats the competition Mail Plane & Mail Tab. Beware of the immitation apps - they may look similar but this is the genuine article! After trying out this version, I ended up buying the regular version since I have more than one gmail account; the regular version allows for you to sign into six gmail accounts at one time.

Same as pin a browser tab

I’ve installed it, but really I don’t see the use of it. Id does exactly the same as if I have gmail pin in my browser. Even worst, to read an email, it opens the entire gmial app into a smaller window, making it harder to read than use the browser. Im very glad I didn’t pay for the full version. I do not see the value of this app.

I don’t see the point of mirroring a web browser.

I don’t see the point of this app. There is no advantage to using this over accessing a gmail account in Chrome or Safari browser. In fact the disadvantage is that it is another app that takes up RAM.

Rare bugs

I like it…..won’t freeze up like the Chrome browser does sometimes. But…links on Chrome will highlight in the lower L corner…so you can see a phony link script…….Kiwi does not have this useful quality

doesn’t work off line

To me, a real email client keeps all the email on my computer, so I can open messages I’ve already recieved, even when I’m not on line. This is really just a mirror fo the gmail tab on any browswer, and didn’t let me use it all all when not connected to the net. Sorry guys, nice try; but fail

Expected it to be more than just another web broswer

I’m not sure how this is any different than logging into Gmail via any web browser. Basically this app is a web browser that can only access one website: Gmail. It’s the same functionality as accessing Gmail through any web browser. Certainly nothing special. I’ll keep using the stock mail app on my iMac. Works just fine for me. I used it for about 2 minutes and then deleted it. It’s nothing special.

5 Star App

First rate build, clean graphics. 5 stars when they add apps.
